IFISC Seminar on Wednesday Nov 24, 2021 at 14:30 Viviane Moraes de Oliveira, Departamento de FĂsica - UFRPE Abstract: Through a resource-based model, we investigate how the mode of habitat loss and fragmentation can affect the levels of biodiversity in an ecosystem. In our model, habitat loss is performed using a fractal landscape to adjust the roughness of the landscape. We show that both the mode of habitat loss and the level of environmental heterogeneity influence species distribution patterns. We observed a more significant impact of fragmentation on the number of species when fragments are more compact. We also note that a unimodal function well describes the relationship between biodiversity and heterogeneity. Zoom code: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83829318876?pwd=Z2pqbUtIMEV3NUQvU0hpakp0NGtsUT09
